Eventer's Dream is the first volume of Caroline Akrill's trilogy following Elaine's ambition to reach the top in Three Day Eventing. Vivid and realistic, life with horses is portrayed with real knowledge and sympathy. There is mud - and occasional blood - and the characters, both human and equine, are amusing, heroic, eccentric and, occasionally, rather sad.  In Chapter 5, Elaine gives her notice only to prompt desperate measures for the Fanes to stay in business. Thanks to Templeton Thompson for her song Girls and Horses, which is available on her website and on iTunes.
